“Your palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy; there’s vomit on your sweater already, mom’s spaghetti; you’re nervous, but on the surface you look calm and ready…”
If Eminem’s lyrics speak straight to your soul whenever you’re about to go in for an interview, know you’re not alone! It’s totally natural to feel nervous, especially when you’re interviewing for a position that’s really important to you. However, I hope to alleviate your interview nerves a little, as the purpose of this post it to share a resource that can help you transition from looking calm and ready, to feeling calm and ready. Although I’m sure Eminem knows what he’s talking about when it comes to rapping, he’s probably not an expert on strategies for interviewing successfully. Fortunately for all of us, we have a great resource right here on campus overflowing with expert advice: Career Services.
Career Services has excellent tips and tricks in their Resource Toolkit. Ten out of ten recommend checking out the webpage, attending a workshop hosted by Career Services, or scheduling a one-on-one appointment with a counselor for individual help.
